Why did Cardiogram detect a heart rate spike and why is it tagged with a questionmark?

Your heart rate changes throughout the day, and it will increase at times, even when you’re not stressed or exercising. For example, when some people go from sitting to standing, their pulse will increase for the first 15 - 20 seconds (American Heart Association).

Cardiogram will automatically tag moments on your timeline where a rise in your heart rate was detected, but there were no steps taken during that time period. Steps can be seen on your timeline colored in green below your HR chart.

If you notice question mark tags:

  • Please check that your steps are imported from where your watch data is stored.
  • Reset Cardiogram's permissions to access your health data.
  • Restart your phone and your watch.
  • Check for any pending software updates for your phone and your watch.
  • Check for Cardiogram app updates.
